Hello People,

Welcome to the July edition of the Acoustic Calendar for Wessex (attachments).

Below is the usual mind-blowing assortment of items detailing changes and developments in the acoustic scene, including lists of festivals for July and August.

NEW VENUE
Bath: Ye Olde Farmhouse, 1 Lansdown Road BA1 5EE (01225) 316 162)
Every Thursday, 8.30pm. Open mic, hosted by Martin John. All abilities welcome.

RIP
Bristol: The Albert Inn, 1 West Street, Bedminster BS3 3NN (0790 1680900)
Every Wednesday, 8.15pm-ish. Open mic, hosted by Liz & Ian.

Bristol: 'Odd Socks', Southbank Club, Dean Lane, Bedminster BS3 1DB (01179665552)
1st Monday in the month, 8pm. Open mic, hosted by Ben Hart. If you wear odd socks admission is free, otherwise it's £1, but the drinks are cheap. Now has a nice sounding PA system set-up.

“There will be no session at the Royal Oak Walton on July 5th, but all musicians, singers and listeners will be welcome at the Ashcott Beer Fest session, 12.30ish onwards on July 5th instead.”

SATURDAY 4TH JULY: ACORN ANNUAL DINNER & GUEST NIGHT

“DOUBLE FEATURE with NICOLA CLARK, superb entertainer, singer/songwriter/guitar - humorous songs, and WEST SOMERSET COLLEGE FOLK GROUP directed by STEVE & JEANNETTE OWEN - always a delight to welcome young performers to the Club. WEDNESDAY 8TH JULY: YETTIES MUSIC NIGHT

THE BLAZING STUMP FOLK CLUB: SOME CHANGES FOR JULY
Luxborough (nr. Watchet): The Blazing Stump Folk Club, The Royal Oak TA23 0SH (01984 640319, George Ody: 07970 116816)
On Friday 10th July the Blazing Stump Folk Club becomes part of the West Somerset Folk Festival and will take place in the skittle alley of the Butcher’s Arms, Carhampton, at 8pm.
On Wednesday 15th July (NOT Friday this time) the Blazing Stump will be back at its usual venue, the Royal Oak, Luxborough, for a special BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION for Sue Bone who is unbelievably (she told me to say) 60 on 30th July.

DIFFERENT VENUE, DIFFERENT DAY
Milborne St Andrew (near Blandford Forum): Ranters’ Folk Session (Roger Harrall: 01258 837371, rogers.rant@googlemail.com)
8pm. Informal folk session - play a tune, sing a song, tell a story, recite a poem or just sit and enjoy the company.
Instead of on the third Friday at the Sports Club, the July session will be held on Monday 27th at Roger’s home.

The event, with 20 beers from award-winning local breweries Cotleigh & Exmoor Ales, is a family-friendly festival and a fundraiser for community radio station 10Radio. The acoustic stage will be running during both afternoons. If anybody's interested in performing please get in touch for further information as soon as possible as slots are filling up.”
