Welcome to South West Folk.

A forum for acoustic and folk musicians and supporters. Probably most relevant for musicians in the South West (since that's where it will be promoted). Bath, Bristol, Somerset, Wilts, Glos. etc.

How many times have you sat in a club or open mic and wished that there was a way that you could hear about new gigs or opportunities? The SWF board is a way that we in the acoustic music community can share news, opinions and ideas. It's intended to be 100% non denominational by race creed or colour. So that's electric and acoustic musicians equally welcome!

Housekeeping

A few houskeeping rules - Please keep your posts brief and positive. There's no room for allegation or rhetoric. Boards like this need a moderator. That's currently me. Anyone wishing to help moderate this forum, or moderate any of the other forums, drop me a line.

The role of the moderator is to keep the posts in check and particularly to make sure that nothing is posted that will cause offence. It's easy to misread something that was posted with good intention. Use smilies and (joke!), (no offence!), etc. whenever you can. I've no truck with flame wars and I'll remove slanging posts at the first sight of trouble. You have been warned! :D

Avatars and attachments

An avatar is a small picture that you can upload in your profile. Currently the maximum size is 120 x 120, 500kb limit, jpg, gifs, tifs only. I've disallowed uploading attachments for the moment.

Registration. Why?

Registration is necessary because bad people would use boards like this to spam us with adverts for rubbish. I know it's a pain. But it's more of a pain to wade through 100 adverts to get the info that you want.

Who watches the watchman?

I'm more than happy to adopt suggestions about the board. I'd welcome volunteers to moderate. Ideally there'll eventually be a different moderator for each category. If you want to comment on my moderation, please do.

Welcome, and keep us posted.

Richard :D
