Folk Diary updates

Postby sanchobramble on Wed Nov 28, 2007 8:28 pm

This is how it goes. I finalise the Diary for the month, diligently pasting all the information I’ve collected into the calendar template, and I send it off. Next day, everyone decides to tell me that it’s all wrong, because they’ve closed down, or changed the day, or they’re meeting a week earlier because of Christmas. Here’s the updated information. There’s so much of it that I’m attaching revised versions of the Diary files.

CHRISTMAS – SCHEDULE CHANGES:
Bampton: Bridge House Hotel, Luke Street EX16 9NF (Clare Penney 01884 860023, west.land@lineone.net)
Every 2nd & 4th Tuesday, 8pm – 11pm. Acoustic music & song session.
The session on 11th December will be held at The Swan Hotel instead of the usual venue.
The 4th Tuesday is Christmas Day, so instead they will be celebrating with a CHRISTMAS PARTY on the previous Tuesday – 18th December at the usual venue.

Merriott: The Kings Head Hotel, Church Street, TA16 5PR (01460 72973, kingsheadmerriott@tiscali.co.uk)
Last Tuesday of every month, starts between 8.30pm & 9pm. Acoustic folk session. All musicians and spectators welcome. Musicians will get a bit of food after the session.
This will be held one day later than usual – on Boxing Day.

Milborne St Andrew: The Royal Oak
8pm, informal folk session – tunes, songs, stories, etc.
This will be held on Monday 17th December (one week early) because of Christmas

NEW:
Bridgwater: Bridgwater Arts Centre, 11-13 Castle Street TA6 3DD (01278 422700)
Monthly, not always on the same date, 8pm-ish. Acoustic/unplugged session in the bar. All styles, all ages.
This one folded earlier this year and has now resurfaced (if you’ll excuse the mixed metaphor). It meets this month on 15th.

Weston Super Mare: The Pig and Truffle, 30 Oxford St. BS23 1TF (01934 414094)
Every Sunday, 8pm. Acoustic jamming & singing, all styles.

CORRECTIONS:
Priddy: The New Inn: 8.30pm – 11pm, music & song session hosted by ‘Good Companions’
South Petherton: Wheatsheaf Inn, Silver Street: 8pm, folk music/song
These were inadvertently listed as being on 5th and 19th December. That should be 12th and 26th (though the latter my not take place, it being Boxing Day).
