Postby sanchobramble on Thu Oct 29, 2009 12:41 pm

Hello people,

Here with its usual dependable just-in-timeness is next month’s Acoustic Calendar for Wessex (attachments). Newcomers please note – there is a November Calendar and also an alphabetical Venues List, which gives complete addresses and contact details. Each of these can be downloaded in either Word doc or PDF format (You lot have got jam on it – you really have!)

Don’t forget to read all the exciting news below, which includes several new venues and a special message for denizens of the Blazing Stump Folk Club.

Now go ye forth and make musicke.

I’ll be in touch soon,

Tony

BLAZING STUMP ALERT!!
Luxborough (nr. Watchet): The Blazing Stump Folk Club, The Royal Oak TA23 0SH (01984 640319, George Ody: 07970 116816)
Second Friday of the month, 8.30 pm. Very friendly singaround and session. All welcome.
‘Stump’ regulars – please read this message from George and let him know your views:
“The future of Luxborough is uncertain at the moment, as the management want us to shift to an alternative evening. They are suggesting Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday. I need to find out what people think about this. They are adamant that they want the folk club to continue, as it has been a part of The Royal Oak for many years, but they want Fridays for food. November will be as normal, on the second Friday, although December will be held at The Valiant Soldier, Roadwater on the normal Friday. Let's get a full house at both. If we can't agree on a different evening we may have to look at the possibility of moving to the Valiant full time if they are up for it.”

MENDIP FOLK ON DIFFERENT DAY
Priston (nr. Bath): Mendip Folk, Village Hall BA2 9EE (Heather: 01761 300551, singing@heatherash.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false)
Second Friday of the month, 7.45pm for 8pm start. £1 entry. All styles - traditional or contemporary song, music, dance, poetry or story.
November’s meeting will be on THURSDAY 12TH instead of Friday 13th (not that they’re superstitious or anything).

Every Thursday, 8.15pm for an 8.30pm start. Singaround. Songs, music, jokes, stories.
No Wimborne Folk Club on Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve.
