Acoustic Calendar for October

Postby sanchobramble on Sat Sep 26, 2009 7:12 pm

Hello People,

Welcome to the October edition of the famed Acoustic Calendar for Wessex (4 attachments).

I occasionally receive a plaintive message from someone who has travelled some distance to a session or open mic only to find that nothing is going on. This happens in spite of the fact that every monthly Calendar & Venues List contains a warning to check with venue before travelling. Contrary to popular supposition, I am not omniscient and the Acoustic Calendar is not an infallible depository of immutable truths. The acoustic music scene can be as unpredictable as the world of sub-atomic particles. Venues come and go, change days, take breaks… and the buggers don’t always tell me.

That’s not to say that the Calendar is not an indispensable guide to what (in the scale of probabilities) is highly likely to be taking place on any given day. But if you want to be 100% certain, ring the venue and ask – full contact details for all venues are given in the Venues List.

And now here’s the latest news:

Third Thursday of the month, 8.30pm. “This is an Acoustic ‘Chill-out’ Night. Musicians & singers welcome. We are aiming to make this acoustic night a mixture of varying styles, so come along and play, sing, or just listen - and maybe help shape the venue to your own liking.”
From Thursday 15th October (contact John after the 5th).
